Ceramic. A jug made from coiled clay. I’m scared of the handle, though it’s a lot more solid than it looks. As you can possibly tell, I really like the blue glaze. The inside is glazed with a turquoise, some of which is evident around the top of the jug.
Ceramics
“Thrown Bowl”
Ceramic. A nicely sized little bowl, this is my largest wheel-thrown piece to date. I like the distressed effect on the overglaze.
“Moulded Dish”
Ceramic. A moulded dish, with hand carved decoration. Finished using oxides for colour (Copper Oxide, Cobalt Oxide and Black Iron Oxide mostly). Not entirely practical, but it sure is pretty.
“Surprised Pot”
Ceramic. This little pot had an issue which became obvious during the decorating stage – a thin part which sadly became a hole. Rather than waste the pot, I made the hole a feature. The surprised pot is an ideal size for holding some copper wool for cleaning off soldering iron tips, and the hole …
“Coil Dish”
Coiled Ceramic. A little side dish, ideal for holding small screws during deconstruction projects!
“Wheel Thrown Pot”
Ceramic, approx. 4cm x 10cm. My first ever wheel thrown piece.
“Thumb Pot”
Ceramic, c. 10cm x 7.5cm.
“Derpy”
Clay, 500x500x250. What do you get if you cross an abstract Unicorn, a road cone, some clay, and the hands of Glasgow Unicorn? You get “Derpy”, the Glasgow Unicorn… I decided to give Ceramics a go. It started out as quite a “serious” looking piece, but that’s not the Glasgow Unicorn way!
