Stoneware Clay, c. 15cm x 10cm. Various coloured slips and transparent glaze. A nice little wheel-thrown pot for when i’m painting. It’s a nice size and weight to use for water, and I don’t need to worry about dripping paint down the sides :).

“Anubis”
Stoneware Clay, Various glazes. c. 15cm x 10cm. OK, so this wasn’t supposed to be Anubis, but that’s just how it turned out. Throughout the making process, it took on various forms. Aiming for a Belgian Malinois, it has variously ended up looking like a badger, a rat crossed with a dog, a possum before …
“Skyline”
“Skyline”, 200cm x 40cm. Acrylic on canvas, mixed media. Hand painted base layer, with screenprinted landscape across the piece. No matter what other light source is involved, there really needs to be UV included for it to be truly appreciated. As a result, I’ve not chosen this as my submission for the Manchester Open. It’s …
“Pup Art: Lola”
Digital, 4th in a series of 4. Lola was my first Great Dane, my fearless companion for 7 years. Rehomed from a failed puppy farm (she had 14 pups when she was still essentially a puppy herself), she is sadly no longer with us. She was also the naughtiest dog ever, though Mika is doing …
“Pup Art: Blue”
Digital. 3 in a series of 4. Blue is “Unicorn L”‘s rescue dog. He’s a cheeky chappie, and the goodest boy. I’ve gone for a Warhol-esque feel. Warhol liked to combine vivid colour and halftones for his screenprinted works. I’ve taken the halftone effect one stage further, using lines to achieve an engraved aesthetic.
“Pup Art: Roxy”
Digital, Second in a series of four. Today’s subject is Roxy, the 14 year old Great Dane. She’s a gentle giant, and has seen me through most of my journey. She’s also the laziest dog in the world, but at her age that’s perfectly acceptable. For a Great Dane, 14 is a very good age! …
“Pup Art: Mika”
Digital. First in a series of 4. I’ve been doing some digital stuff whilst I plan out my next project. It’s been a while since I went full-tilt in Photoshop. Today’s subject is Mika, the Malinois (Belgian Shepherd) pup. I say pup – he’s more like a moody teenager now. I’ve gone for a Warhol-esque …
“Coil Jug”
Ceramic. A jug made from coiled clay. I’m scared of the handle, though it’s a lot more solid than it looks. As you can possibly tell, I really like the blue glaze. The inside is glazed with a turquoise, some of which is evident around the top of the jug.
“Thrown Bowl”
Ceramic. A nicely sized little bowl, this is my largest wheel-thrown piece to date. I like the distressed effect on the overglaze.
“Moulded Dish”
Ceramic. A moulded dish, with hand carved decoration. Finished using oxides for colour (Copper Oxide, Cobalt Oxide and Black Iron Oxide mostly). Not entirely practical, but it sure is pretty.
